Lazy Saturdayz - Charity and Social Justice in Jamaica

Give to the poor fish, and he will be full today. Give the poor one a hook, and teach him to fish, and he will be full all the days of his life. Talking about Charity and social justice as two different approaches: Charity refers to helping people who need help. Social justice is the promotion of justice in society. The key difference between the two is that while charity adoptsan individualistic approach, social justice uses a much more structural approach. The government produces a growing stream of the poor and needy, and in some cases also offers the needy charity arrangements as a solution to their problem. Charity has also become an effective tool for promoting and building the reputation of companies, entities, media channels and celebrities.
